Babe Ruth
George Herman Ruth Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 6 1895. George had a big family, he was one out of eight children but only him and his sister Mamie survived. George was a trouble maker in his childhood. His parents decided that he needed a stricter environment so they sent him to ST. Mary's industrial school for boys. At ST.Mary's George developed the love for baseball. After Baltimore's owner watch George play a game, George signed a contract with the Orioles. Team mates on the Orioles called George "Jack's newest babe" than turned into the "Babe".
Started his baseball career as a pitcher and did an great job at that. Boston Red Sox's pick him up and he became known as a power slugger. Shortly after the New York Yankees added Babe to their roster an became a full time outfielder, he was a very good baseball player and put up amazing numbers. In 1920 he beat his own home run record in 1919 and hit 54 home runs wile other players were hitting around 19 home runs, the next year he hit 59 home runs. Yankees became the best team in baseball at that time and were a unbeatable team. Later in the 1920s Babe set a record that stood for 34 years of 60 home runs. Babe was placed in the 1936 hall of fame, and pass away in 1948 due to cancer.
